The Barrington Council for the Gifted and Talented (BCGT) is a non-profit organization of parents and educators whose common purpose is to support gifted education in School District 220.   • Monday, Jan. 30th: BCGT Science Night
    This is our very popular annual event with science consultant Susan Lenz who will be facilitating a hands-on discussion of science experiments using everyday items. Advance registration is recommended and is now available from our Calendar page. Parents are encouraged to attend the SENG webinar - Is it a Gift or A Curse? What It Means to be an Outlier and What to Do About It by Dr. Victoria Ragsdell, which we will be presenting at the same time. More information about this webinar is available here.
  • Sunday-Tuesday, Feb. 5th-7th: IAGC 17th Annual Convention
    IAGC’s (Illinois Association for Gifted Children) Annual Convention will be held at Chicago Marriott Downtown. Sunday's parent workshop titled “Understanding, Assessing and Supporting Your Gifted and Talented Child's Potential” will be presented by Andy Mahoney, one of the pioneers in the field of counseling the gifted. Presentations on the other days will cover topics such as “Strategies for the Visual Spatial Learner”, “Sharing a World of 7 Billion: Lessons for Global Citizenship” and “The Power of Socratic Grammar”. Several of our district educators are also presenting at this conference. More details are available at www.iagcgifted.org. Parents are encouraged to attend these interesting seminars!
  • Thursday, Feb. 9th: BCGT Presents: Dr. Ellen Fiedler
    The topic of the discussion will be "Is Your Student Organizationally Challenged – Practical Solutions for Learning Executive Skills". Dr. Fiedler explores practical tips and tools to help our children become more organized. This is a free event and is open to all parents. Please go to the Calendar page to get more details.

Book Club
  • Thursday, Feb. 16: Children's Book Club meeting
    Please join us for our next Children's Book Club meeting. Our book club for 5th through 8th graders will be discussing the International Bestseller book Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys. Online free registration is now available from the Calendar page.
