Barrington Council for the Gifted and Talented

About Us

The Barrington Council for the Gifted and Talented is an organization of parents and educators whose common purpose is to support gifted education in Barrington School District 220 by serving as a resource and advocate for gifted students, their families and faculty.

With the support of BCGT members we provide the following services:

  • Provide parent and family networking opportunities such as coffees, book clubs and family game nights
  • Issue financial grants to gifted education causes in our district, including assistance to:

    ·  fund a pilot program at Sunny Hill which targets gifted students in early
       elementary school
    ·  send teachers in the district to gifted education conferences
    ·  provide scholarships for students to attend summer science camp
    ·  honor teacher requests for extended classroom materials such as math games,
       biology materials and chess sets

  • Support legislative advocacy for gifted funding
